ROLE: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND SALES OFFICER

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire sales process from lead generation to closing deals.
  • Generate opportunity pipeline through cold calling, lead generation activities, inbound calls, social media, and email campaigns.
  • Set up and attend virtual/face-to-face meetings to customers by providing presentations, actively listening and offering solutions to their logistics and supply chain needs.
  • Onboard new customers and collaborate with senior management team to develop opportunities.
  • Acquire, manage, understand, document and communicate customer requirements, specifications and any other items of importance to the customer.
  • Create future opportunities by translating customer needs & business trends into potential solutions
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline and track progress using CRM tools.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in the logistics sector.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients and industry trends.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and alliances to enhance business growth.
  • Expand the company’s client base by prospecting, qualifying, and closing new deals.
  • Prepare and present business proposals to prospective clients.
    Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for key clients, addressing their needs and concerns.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., operations, customer service) to ensure seamless service delivery to clients.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with clients to ensure satisfaction and explore additional business opportunities.
  • Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance analysis.
  • Document all client interactions, sales activities, and deal progress in CRM systems.
  • Provide accurate and timely updates to the management team on sales and business development activities.
  • Any other assignment that may be given from time to time

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain Management in General.
  • Certified Professional Sales Person (CPSP) certification.
  • Proficiency in international documentation for imports / exports, LC, Shipping processes, bill of lading.
  • Must have very strong knowledge of the customs and Excise HS Code and Explanatory notes.
  • The candidate should be very conversant with customs tariff act, clearing and forwarding procedures, and clearance of goods at Airports and Seaports.
  • Strong negotiation skills, especially in contract management with clients and service providers.
  • Ability to analyze market data, customer needs, and competitive landscapes to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Understanding of international trade laws, customs procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to identify logistical challenges and develop effective, efficient solutions.
  • Experience in managing complex logistics projects, including coordination with multiple stakeholders.
  • Good communication skills – oral and written.
  • Relationship Management.
  • Must have appropriate knowledge of inspection agents, Banks, shipping companies, and Terminals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word)
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
