Overview
A position for a Branch/Fleet Manager has become available at a major logistics company in Kitwe Zambia due to expansion. Candidates require a minimum of 5 years’ experience in bulk commodity transport operations, with a proven track record of success. Management of own fleet (approximately 70 to 100 Vehicles)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement strategy, commercial and process improvements. Good understanding of health and safety regulations and industry standards. Computer literate. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Cross border transportation. Good communication skills. Experience in setting up an Over border road transport division would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will be responsible for: Develop and implement a comprehensive road transport strategy for the company, in line with business objectives. Evaluate and potentially Purchase trucks and other transport equipment required for the operation, ensuring all necessary permits and licenses are in place. Develop and implement processes and systems for efficient transport operations, including scheduling, routing, and tracking. Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices. Manage and coordinate transport staff, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped to carry out their duties.
Plan and implement cost-effective transport solutions, ensuring that operational costs are kept within agreed budget. Ensure proper load planning for return trips. Monitor and report on transport performance, including KPIs such as delivery times, vehicle utilization, and fuel consumption. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Border Customs, customers, suppliers, and transport service providers. Identify and recommend improvements to transport operations, in order to drive continuous improvement and increase efficiency. Ensure that all transport documentation and records are accurate and up-to-date.
A basic Salary of R 65 000 to R 100 000 is on offer depending on experience and qualifications. With housing and benefits.
