IDEA International Nigeria is seeking a committed and experienced candidate for the position of Finance Officer who will be in charge of the day-to day financial aspects of the organization working under the Country Director.
Position Summary:
The Finance Officer of IDEA-international has financial management duties to cover the organization needs. He/she must be familiar with audits, invoices and budget preparations. IDEA-international Finance officer should have interest in managing accounting activities, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable. He/she should also have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks. Ultimately, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of our financial transactions, processes and procedures in line with our financial policies.
Finance Officer Responsibilities include amongst others:
Ø Keep accurate records for all daily transactions
Ø Prepare balance sheets
Ø Process invoices
Ø Record accounts payable and accounts receivable
Ø Update internal systems with financial data
Ø Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
Ø Prepare IDEA- international Staff or Employees monthly payroll
Ø Reconcile bank statements
Ø Participate in financial audits
Ø Track bank deposits and payments
Ø Assist with budget preparation
Ø Review and implement financial policies
Ø Manage all IDEA International finances and donors’ funds
Ø Review, validate, approve and rejects any requests that is short of all requirement or is not a priority and track all expenses.
Ø Evaluate and report the financial situation of the organization and loan program.
Ø Contribute to the development, monitoring and management of program and projects budget.
Ø Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Senior Coordination, Representation and Advocacy
Ø Represent IDEA International in all relevant coordination meetings and with a range of stakeholders, partners, donor community and government agencies as requested and as required.
Ø Advocate as necessary with relevant authorities, donors, and other stakeholders in support of the organization.
Human Resources Management
Ø Contribute in recruiting/Selecting and orienting new finance staff if need be.
Ø Support, coach and supervise other finance staff to build capacity as will be required.
Ø Develop support strategies for staff, foster teambuilding.
Ø Provide supportive and constructive feedback, and conduct regular performance appraisals of other finance staff if any.
Security and Conduct
Ø Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies
Ø Consider security implications in financial management
Ø Foster a safe and supportive working environment for all staff/volunteers/partners/costumers.
Ø Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization and loan program, notably through adherence to the Code of Conduct and Ethics, including compliance with anti-harassment, safeguarding and PSEA policies as mentioned below.
Requirements and skills
Ø Proven work experience as a Finance Officer or similar role
Ø Solid knowledge of financial and accounting procedures
Ø Experience using financial software
Ø Advanced MS Excel skills
Ø Knowledge of financial regulations
Ø Excellent analytical and numerical skills
Ø Sharp time management skills
Ø Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data
Ø AA or BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
Ø Diplomacy, negotiation and networking skills
Ø Ability to work under a minimum of supervision
Ø Willing to live and work in challenging conditions
Ø Reactivity, anticipation, adaptability, capacity to take initiatives
Ø Strong problem solving and organisational skills in day to day and crisis situations
Ø Ability to classify and to manage priorities.
Languages:
Ø English: Fluent (oral and written).
Ø Being able to speak and write local languages: Hausa, Kanuri, etc will be an added advantage.
