A key focus of the organization is to prioritize health, community health as well as reproductive health education, particularly among the most vulnerable populations. Additionally, IDEA-INTERNATIONAL is dedicated to preventing or eradicating all forms of violence against women and girls by actively working to enhance gender equality within homes and communities. IDEA international implements education programs including STEM Education for women and girls. IDEA International Nigeria is seeking a committed and experienced candidate for the position of IT and Communication Assistant.

 

Job Summary:

The IT and Communication Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the organization’s information technology systems and communication strategies. This position is essential for ensuring that the organization operates efficiently and effectively in its mission to empower communities.

Key responsibilities include:

Technology Support: Assist in the effective use of technology across various programs by providing technical support to staff and ensuring that all IT systems function smoothly. This includes troubleshooting hardware and software issues, setting up new devices, and ensuring that all technology resources are utilized to their fullest potential.
IT Infrastructure Maintenance: Help maintain the organization’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and communication systems. This involves regular monitoring, updating software, performing backups, and ensuring data security protocols are followed to protect sensitive information.
Communication Enhancement: Work on enhancing internal and external communications by managing communication tools and platforms. This includes updating the organization’s website, managing social media accounts, and ensuring consistent messaging across all channels to promote the organization’s programs and initiatives.
Collaboration and Training: Collaborate with team members to identify technology needs and provide training sessions to staff on new tools and systems. This will help foster a culture of technological proficiency within the organization.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of IT processes, systems, and user manuals. Prepare reports on technology usage and communication effectiveness to inform management decisions and improve overall operations.
Project Support: Assist in the implementation of IT-related projects that support the organization’s strategic goals, ensuring that technology solutions align with programmatic needs.
Overall, the IT and Communication Assistant will contribute significantly to the organization’s ability to deliver impactful programs by ensuring that technology and communication strategies are effectively integrated into all aspects of the organization’s work.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum of a National Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related course.
Professional certification is an added advantage.
Experience in IT support and communication strategies.
Strong understanding of software and hardware systems.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to gender equity and empowering management practices.

Senior Coordination, Representation and Advocacy

Ø  Represent IDEA International in all relevant coordination meetings and with a range of stakeholders, partners, donor community and government agencies as requested and as required.

Ø  Advocate as necessary with relevant authorities, donors, and other stakeholders in support of the organization.

Human Resources Management

Ø  Contribute in recruiting/Selecting and orienting new finance staff if need be.

Ø  Support, coach and supervise other finance staff to build capacity as will be required.

Ø  Develop support strategies for staff, foster teambuilding.

Ø  Provide supportive and constructive feedback, and conduct regular performance appraisals of other finance staff if any.

 

Security and Conduct

Ø  Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies

Ø  Consider security implications in IT and Communication

Ø  Foster a safe and supportive working environment for all staff/volunteers/partners, etc.

Ø  Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through adherence to the Code of Conduct and Ethics, including compliance with anti-harassment, safeguarding and PSEA policies as mentioned below.

 

 

Languages:

Ø  English: Fluent (oral and written).

Ø  Being able to speak and write local languages: Hausa, Kanuri, etc will be an added advantage.

 

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within IDEA International and amongst beneficiaries served by IDEA International.

Code of Conduct

As applicable to this position, an individual must promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization and maintain a clear understanding of IDEA International’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.

If this is a supervisory position, one must set an example of ethical behaviour through one’s own conduct and oversight of the work of others; ensure that those who report to you have sufficient knowledge and resources to follow the standards outlined in the Code of Conduct & Ethics; monitor compliance of the people you supervise; enforce the Code of Conduct & Ethics and IDEA International’s policies, including the Safeguarding Policy and the Protection from Harassment, Bullying and Sexual Misconduct in the Workplace Policy, consistently and fairly; support employees who in good faith raise questions or concerns.

Safeguarding
